Wilhelm GAIL, grandson of Georg Philip GAIL, with an innovative outlook for his century, gets to know new technologies and founds “Fábrica de Cerâmicas Wilhelm GAIL”, or Wilhelm GAIL Ceramic Factory.

Wilhelm GAIL shows his potential by introducing new techniques that enhance the quality of ceramic tiles. Exports begin, initially to Belgium, and in a few years time expanding to Russia and Sweden

The century that is just starting brings a new style to architecture: Art Nouveau. GAIL covers the most important construction works of this period and makes a name for itself while achieving incredible ascension.

1914 - 1918 First World War. Death and destruction in the memory. Work is temporary suspended at GAIL. 258 workers are laid off.

| 1923 |
On February 25th, 1923, GAIL’s founder dies, and the company is taken over by his son Georg GAIL. Georg acquires international experience through professional courses and deploys new technologies at the company.

Second World War: around 55 million deaths. GAIL suffers several air attacks during the period, and parts of the factory are totally destroyed.

1949 With skilled business organization and always mindful of trends, Georg GAIL implements modernizations during the rebuilding of the plant.

After the death of Georg GAIL, his son-in-law Dr. Walter Rumpf assumes the Presidency and starts to run the GAIL group. A great deal of determination and union at a time of phenomenal economic restructuring in Germany bring about the noteworthy growth of the company and consolidation of the GAIL trademark.

1975 Gressit- GAIL is now called GAIL Arquitetura em Cerâmica.
Heavy technological investments from Germany are made in the period of 1975 - 1980. Under the supervision of industrial director Kurt Hannemann and of industrial technician Josef Appl as well as others, GAIL is consolidated with German know-how.

1990 GAIL Arquitetura em Cerâmica achieves a prominent position in the market with agents all over the country. Important construction works are covered with GAIL Ceramics and multinational companies such as McDonalds sign contracts with the company as the exclusive supplier. Exports grow rapidly to countries such as the United States, Hong-Kong and South Africa. A decade of outstanding results.

The Inax-Japan Group, leading global manufacturer of ceramic coverings, merges with GAIL Germany, forming what was then called the GAIL-Inax group.

GAIL is the first company in the world in the market of extruded coverings to obtain ISO 9001 certification.

Dr. Walter Rumpf, comes to Brazil for the 30th anniversary celebration of GAIL-Brazil. He inaugurates the Furnace 6 unit.

Dr. Walter Rumpf, responsible for post-war expansion in Germany and for the visionary and multicultural transposition to Brazil, dies in Switzerland.
